David Ashwell

David Ashwell trained as a graphic designer at Kingston College of Art in his native Britain. In 1971, after five years as an advertising art director he became a director of TV Commercials, making more than 800 commercials in over 30 countries. He has won awards in every major advertising competition in both Europe and the USA.
In 2001 David gave up directing to become a full time painter, mostly of Malibu landscapes. His work has been sold in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, England, Canada and here in the United States.
In 2009 he started a project for Save the Children where he paints portraits of well known people from their childhood photographs. He intends to publish a book of these paintings, titled: 'Yesterday's Children' with the proceeds going to Save the Children who are delighted to be the beneficiary. The original paintings and a limited edition of prints will also be sold to benefit the same cause.

He is currently the only living painter with work hanging in the United States Congressional Building in Washington DC.
